The Global Outreach 10 Year Reunion was a great success! Participants spent February 20-22 in beautiful Budapest, Hungary reminiscing, sight-seeing, reconnecting with old friends and even making some new ones!
The weekend began with an evening reception at the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development where we were treated to the wonderful company of former and future trainees, Ministry of Agriculture representatives, Global Outreach staff and board president. Attendees heard from the Hungarian Deputy Secretary of State, Dr. Ferenc Nyujto, Global Outreach Board of Directors President and co-founder, Ms. Carol Elder and Global Outreach Executive Director Jennifer Wagner.
The night was topped off by a social function at a local Irish pub where a number of folks continued the celebration!
On Saturday, participants enjoyed a short walk through Hero's Square before heading off into the Varosliget district in Budapest where the group visited the Museum of Agriculture and the Budapest Zoo! Later in the evening, the group went to the wine cellar of 1994-95 Global Outreach trainee Balazs Lics for a cellar tour, wine tasting, dinner and entertainment. The group listened to traditional Hungarian songs sung by several of the Hungarian alums.
The last day of the reunion gave everyone the opportunity to view stunning photos of Daniel Szelenyi's tour of several North American National Parks. Thank you for sharing them, Daniel! The group also had a productive discussion on how Global Outreach can continue to have an impact on their lives in the years to come.
Also, special thanks to the Hungarian Ministry of Agriculture and FVM Képzési és Szaktanácsadási Intézet for all of their support and assistance in this event! We're looking forward to the next reunion!
